President Xi Jinaping Of China In Talks With The Italian Prime Minister To Revive The Silk Road

Earlier this year a study was published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology (published under the American Psychological Association) that found hypnosis can have profound effects on executive function – the cognitive processes that regulate our goals as well as the thought processes and actions oriented towards achieving those goals.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife in Rome at the beginning of his presidential trip to Europe. The visit to Italy was mainly the two leaders discussing the ambitious “Belt and Road” project envisaged by China, involving a large-scale infrastructure construction project, following Marco Polo’s footsteps, reviving the Silk Road and creating land and sea. The highway connects Europe and China. Italy was the first major democracy to be in line with the project.

Some people within the government believe that relations with China will weaken relations with other countries in Europe and the United States, and give China an opportunity to influence Europe, so there are differences in the advantages of this venture. Giuseppe Conte agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with China during the visit; he believes that economic opportunities with China outweigh these objections. Michele Geraci, deputy economic development minister of Italy, pointed out that Italy and China are not as far away as some other European countries, and Italy will have to increase exports to China by 7 billion euros. Maintain the same level. In addition, the trade data between Italy and China is disproportionate. Italy imports 60 billion euros of goods from China, while Italian goods export 13 billion euros to China. Italy has a strong interest in narrowing the gap between these two figures by selling more Italian luxury goods to China.

There is also an initiative to harness the cultural heritage of both countries. Prior to the visit, President Xi Jinping drew attention to the fact that China and Italy were the two countries with the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites. He pointed to the potential of sharing art exhibitions and cultural television and film projects.

At present, Italy has signed the “Belt and Road” project alone. Other European countries do not believe in the merits of the project. There are also serious reservations about transparency and lack of standards in financing. These doubts have not frustrated the Italian President, Mr. Mantarella. He clearly believes that China is “not only an important economic partner but also a promoter of global trade. It is also Italy’s technology and profession in the fields of environmental protection and food security. Knowledge of the market, health services and machinery.” Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao commented: “The Belt and Road trade is beneficial to the economic development and trade of the two countries.”

The current economic and political situation in Italy is somewhat fragile, and expanding existing markets may be of great help. Europe’s fears are not completely unfounded. China may make a major decision for its own interests in the final deal, and the risk that Italian ports may be threatened is the same as that of Greece’s Piraeus port.
